This painting shows Ningurra’s depiction of “Wirrulnga”, a rockhole site in a small rocky outcrop, east of the Kiwirrkurra community in the desert of Western Australia. Wirrulnga is a site which is associated with birth. It is here that the women of the Napaltjarri and Naparrula groups go to give birth. Men are not allowed at this site.
