and 2006 Nyree presented awards in the Awards Ceremony at the Sydney Town Hall as
well as facilitating art workshops at the Redfern Community Centre and Lee Hostel in

Nyree is inspired by the colours of the Central West and is touched by the stories of the
Stolen Generations of Aboriginal people which she combines to create her vibrant contemporary
works in acrylic on canvas and sgrafitto on paper. Nyree also wishes to honour
the memory of her Mum who told her stories of her childhood growing up black and how
she was made to feel back in the early 20th Century. Her great grandmother lived at Burra
Bee Dee, the Mission outside Coonababrabran and her Mum was born in the foothills of
the Warrumbungle Mountains so this country is very special to Nyree.
Her love for animals and for painting them has given her many commissions to paint other
people’s dearly loved pets as well as her own.
